Google is updating its search features to include ads within AI-generated summaries, enhancing commercial interactions by suggesting relevant products for queries with a commercial intent.
These changes, currently implemented on mobile in the US, are under a new section marked "sponsored".
The integration aims to connect users with pertinent businesses and products at crucial decision-making moments. This initiative began trials in May and is now expanding following positive outcomes that facilitate immediate, relevant connections for users.
Additionally, Google has modified the layout of AI Overviews to more visibly display sources on the right side of summaries, improving visibility and driving more traffic to these pages.
Another development is the introduction of AI-organised search pages that present custom results pages tailored to specific searches like recipes, currently available for mobile users in the US.
The aim of this is to streamline information presentation beyond the traditional list format, offering a more integrated and direct answer interface.
Google’s AI search summaries officially have ads... The search giant will now stick relevant products into its AI Overviews.
